Dr. Rolfe, an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is director of NGRREC. He also serves as chair of the Illinois Forestry Development Council. Dr. Rolfe has more than 30 years of administrative leadership experience.

Dr. Rolfe’s research interests include bottomland and wetland ecology, and ecosystem-based management integrating ecological, social and political dimensions. He has more than 150 publications in these areas and has mentored over 50 graduate students.
